Ethanol

Sugarcane ethanol is the cleanest biofuel in the world, capable of reducing CO 2 (Carbon Dioxide) emissions by approximately 90% when compared to gasoline, contributing to the fight against global warming.

In order to reduce pollutant emission levels, it became mandatory to mix ethanol with gasoline. According to Law No. 8,723, the mixture must contain 27% anhydrous ethanol, which is produced by Açucareira Quatá S/A , as well as other types of ethanol.

In this way, the ethanol we supply contributes to cleaner air and improved quality of life for thousands of people.

Anhydrous Ethanol

Our anhydrous ethanol is sold to fuel distributors to be added to gasoline and contains almost 100% alcohol, removing practically all the water from the mixture. The combination is made in different proportions, according to the legislation of each country.

This type of ethanol is also used in paints, varnishes, distillates, solvents, aerosols, in addition to being part of the composition of gasoline.

Hydrated Ethanol

Our hydrated ethanol has been sold directly to Brazilian gas stations to be used as fuel since the 1970s, due to the government incentive of the Proálcool Program (1975), containing 95% to 96% alcohol and the remainder water.

Our hydrated ethanol can be used in beverages, foods, cosmetics, cleaning products, medicines, among others.

Brazil, as a country with a tropical climate, has advantages in relation to the generation of clean and renewable energy and is the only country that uses this compound as fuel, providing more accessible prices to the market.

Quality of our ethanol

Our products meet customers’ highest standards and quality criteria. We invest in certifications that allow the commercialization of biofuel to markets with additional requirements for decarbonization of the energy matrix. In this way, our products reach countries such as the United States, Japan and Canada.

Marketing and Distribution

Our ethanol is sold and distributed byAçucareira Quatá S/A , the largest Brazilian company and one of the largest global exporters of sugar and ethanol. Its business model is considered unique, with a growth and longevity strategy based on sustainability management.

Açucareira Quatá S/A connects plants and customers, selling ethanol on a large scale, in addition to carrying out logistics operations with the capacity to integrate all links in the value chain.

To meet the required quality and sustainability standards, the trader develops the Evolution of Sustainability project, which evaluates the performance of the 35 partner producing plants.

Our three units were classified in the advanced stage, which proves our efforts to incorporate the best existing socio-environmental practices in our agricultural and industrial operations.

RenovaBio

Our company was the first, among Copersucar associates, certified to issue RenovaBio CBIOs

The impacts of climate change, caused by global warming, have come to occupy a central position in discussions about new economic and production models.

Around the world, society demands the creation of new solutions that, with lower carbon emissions, can meet the needs of energy, food, consumer goods and other essential items for modern life.

In this scenario, biofuels gained even more relevance. Widely distributed in Brazil, sugarcane ethanol emits fewer pollutants than gasoline and has a practically neutral carbon balance, since sugarcane fields absorb CO2 from the atmosphere during their development cycle.

Furthermore, the product can be used in the chemical industry to produce biopolymers that replace raw materials originating from petroleum.

To boost the presence of ethanol and other biofuels in the energy matrix, Brazil established the RenovaBio Program, a public policy aligned with the decarbonization goal assumed by the country as a signatory of the Paris Agreement in 2015.

From 2020 onwards, fuel distributors will have to meet decarbonization targets by acquiring Decarbonization Credits (CBIOs), certificates issued by biofuel producers that prove the reduction of CO2 emissions through an efficient and environmentally responsible production process. .

Açucareira Quatá S/A were the first to achieve RenovaBio certification. In 2020, our three units began issuing CBIOs

The greater the energy efficiency for the production of biofuels, the greater the number of CBIOs emitted. Therefore, our initiatives will continue to focus on maximizing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the production cycle.
